Five days masterclass

From the ground, UP

Floor acrobatics and creative movement workshop

From the ground, UP” is a floor acrobatics and creative movement workshop.
Built on the belief that there isn’t only one way of learning and doing floor acrobatics, the workshop will introduce participants to unique tools and concepts that aim to challenge them mentally, physically, and creatively.

The main objectives of the workshop are:

  1. Learn new ways of thinking and moving acrobatically (from the ground all the way into the air)
  2. Learn new ways of eliciting creativity
  3. Learn new technique while also reinventing old technique
  4. Gain confidence and knowledge in order to think, work, and create independently

In order to achieve the core objectives, the students will be asked to focus on both acrobatic technique and general movement (requiring less technique). Students will also be asked to draw inspiration from concepts, improvisations, exercises, dance, and guided research in order to serve and inspire the technique, movement, and of course, creativity.

NOTE: While some time will be dedicated to working on specific acrobatic technique, a lot of the focus will be on the tools and concepts introduced throughout the course which fuel the technique and create movement.

Dates: 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th en 28th of February 2020
Time: 9.30 – 11.30 h
Teacher: Raphael Herault
Fee for all five mornings: €78,- (Special price for students: €65,-)

About Raphael Herault
Raphael Herault is French with a circus background having first studied at Ecole Nationale de Cirque de Châtellerault, then at Ecole de Cirque Balthazar, and finally at Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC). The focus of his studies are Floor Acrobatics, Teeterboard, and Banquine.
Upon graduating from ESAC, he co-founded the company “Acrobarouf ” with which he travelled the world for about 10 years performing many different acts/shows in many different countries and environments. Raphael has performed on the streets, in the cabarets, all the way to the big stage of Cirque du Soleil  (“Amaluna”).
However, with a life-long passion for cinema, Raphael picked up his first real camera during his two years on “Amaluna” and never looked back. He is fascinated by circus and by cinema and he is on a quest to build bridges between these two beautiful art forms which was the original source for creating his current company, Double Take – Cinematic Circus in 2016 with partner and co-founder, Summer Hubbard, which still drives the company today.
